VITRICCHESS
Metropolis — six ceramic pieces in a row

Metropolis

A skyline in 32 pieces.Collection 01 · First Edition · Opening · Opening now

The idea

Metropolis translates the twenties skyline into chess pieces: stepped volumes, bundled verticals, setbacks instead of ornament. Each piece is its own building with its own height and its own setback.

Together they stand like a city on the board.

The six pieces

King

01
Metropolis King

The tallest tower in the city. Stepped to the very top.

Queen

02
Metropolis Queen

The fan. Verticals that open.

Bishop

03
Metropolis Bishop

Offset storeys, cut at a slant. A building in motion.

Knight

04
Metropolis Knight

A horse's head drawn in facade edges.

Rook

05
Metropolis Rook

Stepped mass. Each storey carries the next.

Pawn

06
Metropolis Pawn

The smallest high-rise. Lined up, a city block.
